Kruger United are the 2025/206 champions of the Motsepe Foundation championship and have gained an automatic promotion to the Betway premier league for next season with two games remaining.
United clinched the title and promotion after they hammered Black Leopards by 3-1 in a league game which was played on Saturday afternoon at KaNyamazane Stadium.
The Village boys have collected 58 points in 28 games. They have outrun other NFD teams such as Milford FC, Hungry Lions FC, Casric Stars, and Cape Town City FC, who were also chasing the automatic promotion spot.
Their impressive form has seen them opening an eight-lead gap from Milford FC who are second on the log table with 50 points followed by Hungry Lions with 48 points after the same number of games.
United are unbeaten in their last six matches after claiming wins against Lerumo Lions FC, Highbury FC, Midlands Wanderers FC, Cape Town City, Baroka FC, and Black Leopards.
They will have to wait for their last league game against The Bees to lift the championship trophy. They will however visit Gomora United before their last game.
Kruger has joined TS Galaxy as the second team from Mpumalanga that will participate in the South African top league.
