Suzuki Griquas successfully defended their Currie Cup title with a hard-fought 23-16 victory over the Airlink Pumas in the 2026 Carling Currie Cup final at Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley on Saturday.
The tightly contested final was played in front of a sold-out crowd. The score was locked at 16-16 heading into the final 10 minutes, before Griquas sealed the win with a crucial rolling maul try and conversion in the 74th minute.
Premier Dr. Zamani Saul and MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Mr. Mangaliso Matika attended the match to show their support.
In a joint statement, Premier Saul and MEC Matika congratulated the team for making the province proud.
“The Northern Cape Provincial Government congratulates Suzuki Griquas for once again defending their 2025 title and making the province proud,” the statement read.
