The Executive Mayor of JB Marks Local Municipality, Cllr Gaba Ka Qhele, together with the North West MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Mr Gaoage Molapisi, recently conducted a routine inspection and oversight visit to various water and sanitation projects currently under construction in the JB Marks Local Municipality.
The oversight focused on three key sites: the Potchefstroom Waste Water Treatment Plant and sludge lagoon, the Ikageng Extension 6 Sewer Reticulation and Top Structures project, and the Promosa/Mohadin Bridge.In an effort to strengthen service delivery in the municipality, Executive Mayor Qhele applauded the provincial COGTA office for its support in projects aimed at promoting quality of life and access to clean water.
“So far so good, we trust that on completion of these projects, our infrastructure would have improved significantly, and we are delighted to have the MEC as part of our oversight,” said Mayor Qhele.The Mayor also lauded the National Treasury for providing financial relief in the form of grants to support municipal infrastructure.
The provincial MEC for COGTA, Mr Gaoage Molapisi, expressed satisfaction with the overall progress made on the sites.”We have a responsibility as a department to oversee projects that are being funded by COGTA in terms of the work being done by all those involved,” said MEC Molapisi.The MEC concluded that there is a great deal of progress on the ground and that the department is satisfied with the work, adding that monitoring of the projects will continue.
