The Gert Schalwyk Foundation is set to host its 12th annual Easter soccer tournament in Klerksdorp’s Alabama from April 3-6. The event aims to provide a platform for young players to showcase their talents, with scouts and former professionals in attendance. Founder Gert Schalwyk, a former national team player, wants to give back to the community and inspire young players to pursue their dreams.
The tournament features U/13, U/15, and U/17 junior teams, as well as senior teams competing for top prizes. Schalwyk’s goal is to keep kids off the streets and provide a positive outlet, saying, “We build our community by taking young boys from the street, taverns, and friends they don’t benefit from. We give them something to do, motivate them, and help them build their future.”
Expect an exciting atmosphere at Alabama Stadium, with former pros offering motivation and support.
