The Free State ABC Motsepe League standings have taken a dramatic turn following the withdrawal of Mathathai FC last week, reshaping the race at both the top and bottom of the table. The decision has seen Mangaung Unite and Mangaung City each awarded three additional points, tightening an already fierce battle for supremacy.
At the summit, Sasol United continue to lead the charge with 47 points after 23 matches, showing consistency and resilience throughout the season. Hot on their heels is Mangaung Unite, now on 46 points following the additional three points, making the title race even more intense.
Mangaung City* boosted to 45 points, remain firmly in contention, while Super Eagles sit fourth with 41 points, still within striking distance should the top three slip.
With just a few games left, the top four are separated by only six points setting up a thrilling finish to the campaign.
The withdrawal of Mathathai FC has had a significant influence on the standings. The awarding of three points to Mangaung Unite and Mangaung City has not only boosted their title hopes but also added pressure on log leaders Sasol United.
This administrative decision could prove decisive in determining who ultimately lifts the trophy, as every point now carries even greater weight.
Clubs like UFS (39 points), African Warriors (39 points), and Free State United (32 points) are locked in a competitive midfield battle, fighting for respectable finishes and possible late pushes into the top four.
Meanwhile, inconsistency continues to haunt teams such as CUT and Kamele, both sitting on 28 points, unable to break into the upper half despite flashes of quality. At the other end of the table, the relegation fight is just as gripping.
Brave Eleven (17 points), Mountain Eagles (11 points), and Bloem Young Tigers (10 points) find themselves in deep trouble, needing near-perfect finishes to survive.
Just above them, Remember Academy (25 points) are not yet safe and must remain alert as the pressure mounts from below. The gap between survival and relegation remains narrow, promising high-stakes encounters in the final stretch.
With the log reshaped and tensions rising, the Free State ABC Motsepe League is heading toward a nail-biting conclusion. The title race is wide open, and the relegation battle is unforgiving.
All eyes will now be on the remaining fixtures as teams fight for glory, pride, and survival in one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory.
