The much-anticipated finals of Ikageng School’s League were held amidst fanfare at Ikageng Stadium with hundreds of spectators in attendance to cheer on players from their favourite schools.

The tourney concluded on a high note and saw huge talent on display as both boys and girls from different primary and high schools were featured in netball and soccer teams. The teams battled it out for honours much to the delight of local communities, players and parents who came to witness the tourney and give support.

Amongst the schools that took part in final games were Keotshepile Primary, Madibeng Primary, Keoagile Primary and Ditaelong Primary. Featured high schools included Boitshoko, Seiphemelo , BA Seobi and Botoka.

Local sports pundits hailed the organizers of the school’s league for running it professionally from the beginning till the end.

The school’s league has exposed many talented teenage league sensations, who have the potential to make their names in different developmental squads across the province.

The director of Ikageng School’s League Mr. Makanaki Molai told The Sports Eye, “This season has been very good. I’ve seen great performances compared to the previous grand finals. The schools have come of age, and the players have been well-disciplined.”

Makanaki has made a clarion call on local businesspeople around Potchefstroom to invest in the future of these young players and make sure that the league continues to grow in leaps in bounds.

 

In the final results were as follows:

Netball

U/13 Keotshepile won 17 Ditaelong 10

U/15 BA Seobi won 22 Botoka 10

U/19 Seiphemelo won 19 Boitshoko 9

Soccer

U/13 Madineng lost to Keagile by 5-4 on penalties after both teams play 1-1 in full time

U/15 Boitshoko won by 1 Sarafina 0

U/19 Seiphemelo won by 4-2 on penalties
