The North West University Soccer Institute got the new season off to a vibrant start recently with the unveiling of its new jersey at the NWU Sport Ground in Mahikeng. The event brought together key figures from sport, government and the university community to show support for the team as it prepares for the upcoming campaign.
Among those in attendance were North West MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Hon. Wessels Morweng, SASCOC President in the North West Thebe Sekoto, SAFA representatives, Mahikeng Local Municipality Mayor, NWU Mahikeng Campus Vice-Chancellor Prof. Climent Manoko, and members of NWU management. MEC Morweng used the occasion to pledge government support for the team throughout the season.
He also sent a message to supporters, urging them to rally behind the players and help create an environment where the team can stay focused and deliver good results.Team Manager Dr Vuyo Sambo said he was encouraged by the turnout and the energy in the stands. “I am happy to see more people behind the team and I hope they will keep on supporting us,” he said.The jersey unveiling sets the tone for what NWU hopes will be a strong season, with a refreshed squad ready to take to the field.
The team’s lineup for the new season is as follows: In goals are Khumoetsile Moses and Snethemba Mdluli. The defensive line consists of Aphelele Sibisi, Lucas Seromo, Xolani Masethi, Sive Pitolo, Lucky Letwaba, Pule Khasana and Aubrey Masindi. In midfield, NWU will look to Sanele Bixa, Bokamoso Ramoshoane, Thapelo Letsholonyane, Momelezi Mngati, Piwokuhle Mareledwane, Philane Masondo, Thikho Magada, Ranonyane Mmutlwane, Onkarabile Moswane and Oupa Maehetja.
Leading the attack are forwards Reatlegile Kgosithebe, Boitshoko Sekai and Cwuma Qinga.With the new kit, new faces, and strong community backing, the NWU Soccer Institute will be aiming to make its mark in their quest for glory.
