The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (DSACR) continues its Mandela Month outreach this week with two community events focused on care, creativity and learning.On Thursday, 24 July, MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Me Ntombizanele Sifuba will host 100 senior citizens at the Lejweleputswa Arts and Culture Centre.

The gathering will celebrate older persons and showcase the artistic programmes developed at the centre, giving elders a platform to share their talent and stories.The outreach concludes on Sunday, 27 July in QwaQwa. In partnership with Traditional Leadership, DSACR will support the Namahadi Community Library.

The library, established through community initiative, will receive donations of books, shelving and other resources to strengthen access to information, literacy and reading in the area.“Mandela Month reminds us that service is in our hands,” said MEC Sifuba. “Through these partnerships we are taking programmes to communities and honouring Ntate Mandela’s legacy of dignity and ubuntu.”
