Tumahole – Parys
The Edgar Legoale Foundation is pleased to announce the hosting of a FIFA World Cup Live Screening event in partnership with the Free State Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and Ngwathe Local Municipality.
The event will take place at the Master Nakedi Sports Centre in Tumahole, Parys, on 18 June 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00. Community members will gather to watch South Africa take on Czechia in what promises to be an exciting FIFA World Cup encounter.
In a statement the foundation said that this initiative forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to promoting social cohesion, youth development and community engagement through sport. Football has the unique ability to unite people from diverse backgrounds, inspire young people and strengthen community spirit.
The live screening will provide residents with an opportunity to come together in support of the national team while fostering a sense of pride, unity and collective celebration. The event is expected to attract football enthusiasts, families, young people and community stakeholders from across the Ngwathe Local Municipality.
The programme will be attended by the Executive Mayor of Ngwathe Local Municipality, Councillor Victoria De Beer-Mthombeni, and the Free State MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Ms Ntombizanele Sifuba. Chairperson of the Edgar Legoale Foundation, Mr Edgar Legoale, will also be present to welcome guests and engage with community members.
Mr Legoale said that sport remains one of the most powerful tools for bringing communities together and creating positive social impact.
“As a Foundation, we believe that meaningful community development extends beyond education and social support. Sport has the power to inspire hope, build unity and create lasting memories. We are proud to provide a platform where our community can come together to support Bafana Bafana and celebrate our shared national pride,” said Mr Legoale.
The Edgar Legoale Foundation extends its appreciation to all partners and stakeholders whose support continues to make community-centred initiatives possible. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and be part of this exciting celebration of football and national unity.
