Supporters of Siwelele FC will donate school supplies to learners at Maboloka Primary School on Friday, 6 March 2026, after a fire destroyed a block at the school.
The fire reportedly damaged a building where learners’ textbooks, notebooks and exercise books were stored, leaving many pupils without learning materials. In response to the tragedy, the National Executive Committee of Siwelele Supporters Football Club called on all its branches to assist the school.
Supporters were encouraged to donate money or buy school books that will be handed over to the school during the visit on Friday.“A clarion call was made to all branches to extend a goodwill gesture to the school after we were informed about the tragedy. The burnt block was storing learners’ textbooks, notebooks and exercise books,” said Seabelo Moses, *Secretary* of the Siwelele Supporters Secretariat.
The supporters say helping communities is part of their long-term vision. During a workshop held in September 2025 at Batho Community Hall, the organisation resolved to introduce a Social Responsibility Programme as a permanent feature of its activities.
Through this programme, supporters will continue to organise community outreach initiatives aimed at assisting people in need.“As branches, we have community outreach programmes where we interact with different communities and lend a helping hand in alleviating hardship,” Moses said.
The supporters also take part in government-led outreach campaigns, including initiatives that raise awareness against gender-based violence, drugs and substance abuse.“Siwelele supporters come from the community and belong to the community. Whenever there is a need to help, we will always come handy,” Moses added.
The donation event at Maboloka Primary School is expected to bring relief to learners who lost their books and also highlight the role football supporters can play in uplifting their communities.
