The Office of the Executive Mayor in the City of Matlosana, led by Cllr Fikile Mahlophe, donated 72 school shoes to Leseding Primary School in Khuma Extension 9 recently. The donation is part of the school readiness program, which helps disadvantaged learners start their new school year positively.
In his address, Mayor Mahlophe emphasised the importance of supporting learners in need and ensuring that they develop self-confidence at the start of the new school year. The Mayor thanked the Office of the Speaker, led by Stella Mondlane-Ngwenya, for participating in the initiative to assist disadvantaged learners with free haircuts, girls’ cornrows, and book coverings.
He also expressed gratitude to volunteers and sponsors who have come together to form part of school readiness program initiatives.
The principal, Ms Monchusi upon receiving the school shoes, mentioned that the school is privileged to have been recognised by the Executive Mayor, and they will ensure that the school shoes go to deserving, unprivileged learners in need.
