There is a saying that “you can’t put a good man down”. After being dropped by Lesedi FM, Malefetsane Moreki, a sports anchor, had his career revived when he found a new home at 011 Radio.
He joined the Johannesburg-based online radio early in August, and since then, the Qwaqwa-born sports presenter has won the hearts of the listeners.
A veteran presenter whose career looked bleak after spending two years without a mic was never shy about starting over again when he went on to join Qwaqwa online radio, Beezy FM, as a sports presenter. However, his unique talent and bold voice earned him a new lifeline, and now he has his eye set on television.
“I am delighted and ready to start a new journey. It was not easy to stay home for two years without a job. I am going to work hard in making sure that I reach my goal,” he said.
Even though he had eight years of service at the national radio station, Moreki’s contract was not renewed, and he was instructed to leave.
“I have worked eight years for Lesedi FM. When the contract expired, I was told to go home by the management, and they promised to call me back. They never did; hence, I stayed home for two years. I joined Beezy FM in February but only went on air in March 2025,” he said.
Regardless of the ups and downs, he says he always believed that he would bounce back. Moreki blamed poor management at Beezy FM for his exit. “I had to leave those people because I did not like the way they were running the station,” he said.
“I always believed that I would bounce back. Lesedi FM was not the end of the work. I was connected to 011 Radio by Lucky Moeletsi, who spoke to Paul Marumo from Pretoria,” he said.
Moreki says he now wants to work in television as either a sports presenter or an analyst.
