It was a night of mixed emotions for Siwelele FC head coach Lehlohonolo Seema after his side managed to edge out Sekhukhune United 1–0 in their Betway Premiership clash at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on a rainy Friday night.

Despite celebrating a much-needed victory, Seema admitted that his team is still far from perfect. He said that while he was pleased with the fighting spirit and defensive discipline shown by his players, the team is yet to find the missing piece that will allow them to win matches consistently.

“I am happy with the result and proud of the boys, but we are not there yet, we are still looking for that missing puzzle that will help us perform at our best in every game.

A win is good for morale, especially because we have been struggling to collect maximum points, but there is still a lot of work to do,” he said.

The match started later than expected as the kick-off was delayed for an hour due to heavy rain and lightning in Bloemfontein.

The weather continued to disrupt the game, forcing the referee to temporarily stop play again during the second half for safety reasons.

However, the poor weather did not stop the passionate Siwelele fans from singing and cheering loudly from the stands, creating an electric atmosphere that lifted the players confidence throughout the match.

Siwelele FC took the lead midway through the first half after a well-worked team move that sent their supporters into celebration.

But moments later, Sekhukhune United fought back strongly and were awarded a penalty, only to be denied by Siwelele’s outstanding goalkeeper who produced a crucial save to keep his side ahead.

The shot-stopper went on to make several brilliant saves in the second half, frustrating the visitors attackers and ensuring that Siwelele FC walked away with all three points.
