History was made 01 October 2025 when the province of North West launched its own television channel, better known as Platinum North West TV (PNWTV).
In an interview with The Sports Eye the chairman of board Mr. Mofokeng says the station started way back in 2015 but because of the processes they had to follow from Icasa it took time coupled with the challenges they faced during licence application.
Said Mofokeng, “But we didn’t give up. We continued to have hope and believed in what we wanted for the province and the huge local talent here.
“It wasn’t an easy journey some gave up along the way some lost hope but we kept moving, and today is testimony that perseverance is the key to success.”
According to the Station Manager Mr. Jonathan Ramotsei,“it was a very long road that demanded patience, dedication and teamwork.”
He continued to remember the time he joined the team he thought he will be there for few months as he has been asked to come and help with the process regarding his experience. But moths took him years as he is part of the station after 3 years. Mr. Ramotsei took time to thank his team for their patience, dedication and passion they have for the station.
Said Ramotsei, “The station will give the people of North West a chance to tell their own stories.
“The station will create jobs and give youth a platform to grow.”
Everyone who was part of launch was happy and welcomed television Chanel as a beacon of hope. Speaking to one of invited community members Mr. Motheo said it was about time North West province has its own TV Chanel that will give provincial news and local stories priority.
Said Motheo, “This is a step in the right direction, we will surely get news coverage in our own languages, and our stories will be told timely.”
